Archives and Records
Vicarious trauma and emotional wellbeing is a major risk factor for people working with archives and records. ARA pioneered work in this area. This report explores the impact of rapid response collecting after tragedies on the mental wellbeing of the record keeping workforce.
Disaster Action
Disaster Action offers support, advice and guidance to those dealing with the human impact of disasters. As survivors and bereaved people from UK and overseas disasters, we draw on our unique and collective understanding to assist others who find themselves caught up in similar situations.
Rapid Response Collecting
This guidance uses the term ‘rapid response collecting’ for collecting in response to unforeseen, sudden, unpredictable or unprecedented situations. Some examples of these may include: community organised protests, spontaneous memorials,
accidents and disasters.
Manchester Resilience Hub
The Resilience Hub was set up in response to the Manchester Arena Attack in 2017 to offer support for thousands of people whose mental health and/or emotional wellbeing was affected. We have since grown to provide a range of specialist, psychological support services to help people affected by trauma.
The Network Report

studying recent and past spontaneous memorials from around the UK and Europe.
